SkiWelt, Ski resort in Tyrol, Austria.
SkiWelt is a ski resort in Tyrol, Austria, connecting nine villages including Brixen im Thale, Ellmau, Going, and Hopfgarten through over 80 lifts. The slopes run from the valley villages at around 620 m (2,050 ft) up to roughly 1,900 m (6,230 ft) and cover runs for all ability levels.
The resort came together in 1995 when several smaller ski areas that had operated separately were merged into a single network. That decision turned SkiWelt into one of the largest connected ski regions in Austria.
The nine villages around the resort have kept their traditional Tyrolean look, with painted wooden facades and steep roofs visible from the slopes. Small inns and mountain huts dot the area and serve regional food, which many visitors treat as a natural part of their stay.
Snow conditions are most reliable from December to March, with the upper sections generally holding snow longer than the valley villages. First-time visitors are best off starting from one of the connected villages, as the lift network links them directly to the slopes.
SkiWelt runs one of the largest night skiing setups in Austria, with around 10 km of lit slopes open after dark. This means a visitor can ski both during the day and in the evening without ever leaving the area.
