The Muttersbergseilbahn connects the valley towns of Bludenz and Nüziders with mountain destinations, bridging significant elevation changes. The cable car ride lasts only minutes and carries visitors up to hiking trails, ski slopes, and mountain facilities.

The first committee meeting for a passenger cable car was held on 24 May 1946 under vice-mayor Xaver Muther, but financing took about ten years. The operating company was founded on 9 July 1955 with 164 shareholders and capital of 1,406,000 schillings. The pendulum lift with two 16-person cabins opened on 14 October 1956. A 2001/2002 rebuild replaced it with an 8-person gondola loop.

The name Muttersberg goes back to Xaver Muther, the Bludenz vice-mayor who chaired the first committee meeting on 24 May 1946 and became the lift company's first commercial director. The mountain station, rebuilt in 2001/02, is integrated into an Alpine inn. The valley station lies in the Galgentobel near the site of the Bad Fohrenburg baths, used until about 1838.

The ride up takes only minutes, so even short-notice visitors can easily reach the mountain station. At the top, visitors find various options such as hiking trails, dining spots, and seasonal ski slopes.

The mountain station has a restaurant serving regional food and a large play area for children. This makes it easy to spend a full day here with family.
