Church of Spitz, Lower Austria

The Church of Spitz is a late Gothic parish church standing on the Danube's banks, featuring carved stonework and vaulted ceilings. The interior displays elaborate decoration with multi-part window divisions.

The building was constructed in the late Gothic period and houses Apostle statues from 1380. It ranks among the earliest religious structures in the Wachau Valley.

The church displays works by Kremser Schmidt and reveals the artistic traditions of Lower Austrian religious art. Visitors can view these sacred compositions directly in their original setting.

The church sits at Kirchenplatz in Spitz and welcomes visitors daily. Its location offers easy access from the Danube promenade.

The structure sits at roughly 223 meters above sea level and offers views across the surrounding Tausendeimerberg vineyards. From this elevated position, the ruins of Hinterhaus fortress are also visible.
