Pauluskirche, Modern parish church in Reichenau district, Innsbruck, Austria
Pauluskirche is a modern parish church in the Reichenau district with a distinctive tower and large glass mosaic windows on its north wall that shape the interior space. The structure features a clear contemporary form and is characterized by windows displaying special artistic motifs.
Construction began in 1959 to serve the growing population of the district following World War II. The church was built in response to housing shortages and population growth during the post-war period in Innsbruck.
The altar mosaics show religious scenes created by a well-known artist and remain a focal point in the church interior today. They shape the appearance of the altar area and invite visitors to engage with the depicted subjects.
The building was expanded in 2015 with additional spaces including a cafe and youth center, serving today as a gathering place for the community. Visitors find space for rest and interaction alongside the church hall itself.
Four bells from the renowned Grassmayr Bell Foundry hang in the tower and were cast in 1961, each with its own name and weight. Together they form a special sound ensemble that continues to mark the daily life of the community.
