Piarist church Krems

The Piarist Church features steep Gothic structures with profiled pillars, services, capitals, and handcrafted elements throughout its expansive hall design.

Built around 1284, the church underwent significant modifications in the 15th century, with its choir receiving consecration in 1457 and another sanctification in 1508.

The church interior contains a Baroque high altar by Joseph Maria Götz and an altarpiece from 1756 by Martin Johann Schmidt depicting the Ascension of Mary.

Located at Frauenberggasse 4-6, visitors can access the church through the covered Piarist staircase leading to the parish square, renovated in 2004.

The watchtower on the eastern side, owned by the city since 1616, maintained its function as a residence for the city tower keeper until recent decades.
