Korneuburg Schiffswerft, Heritage shipyard in Korneuburg, Austria.
Korneuburg Schiffswerft is a former shipyard along the Danube River with large protected industrial halls and extensive construction facilities. Today the site accommodates a swimming pool, event spaces, and restaurants for public use.
The shipyard was founded in 1852 by the Danube Steamship Company and grew into Austria's main vessel construction facility. It shaped river transport history for over a century before closing in 1993.
The site preserves the memory of workers who resisted the Nazi regime and were executed during World War II. This remembrance shows how the place honors those who stood against injustice during its industrial past.
The site is open to the public with swimming, dining, and event activities available. Visit during warmer months if you want to enjoy the outdoor pool, as seasonal closures may apply.
The training vessel Bertha von Suttner was built here and was the final ship constructed before the shipyard closed in 1993. This vessel represents the end of a long shipbuilding tradition at the site.
