Schloss Biberstein, Medieval château in Himmelberg, Austria

The three-story stone building features a quadrangular courtyard with arcades from the 16th century and a movable roof over irregular foundations.

Marchwart der Pybriacher constructed Schloss Biberstein near the end of the 14th century after receiving noble status from Duke Wilhelm in 1396.

The upper story contains a remarkable stucco ceiling created around 1735, depicting scenes of Diana, Actaeon, and the Triumph of Dionysus.

The castle stands at the southern entrance of Himmelberg, directly accessible from the Turrach federal road with designated parking areas.

The entrance staircase displays a wrought iron gate made around 1920 using repurposed Baroque grave crosses from the 18th century.
