Schwarzenberg

Schwarzenberg is a mountain summit located between Ebenau and Elsbethen in the Salzburg region. The peak stands at approximately 1,334 meters and offers multiple hiking routes that wind through forests and open alpine meadows.

Schwarzenberg sits on historical trade routes that once connected medieval settlements across the Salzburg region. These ancient pathways form the basis for many of the hiking trails that cross the mountain today.

Local farmers maintain traditional Alpine pastoral practices on Schwarzenberg's slopes, continuing centuries-old methods of sustainable mountain agriculture.

The mountain is accessible from the Obertal parking area, where hikers can begin their ascent. The climb takes several hours, so starting early and wearing sturdy footwear are advisable for a comfortable experience.

During colder months, hikers can spot wildlife tracks in the snow, offering rare glimpses into the animals that inhabit the mountain. In spring, the slopes transform with blooming mountain flowers that paint the alpine meadows.
