Schloss Feldegg, Renaissance château and museum in Pram, Austria.
Schloss Feldegg is a three-story Renaissance château in Pram featuring a square plan, a characteristic tower, and a steeply pitched roof positioned at the highest point of a sloping park. The building offers views of the surrounding garden and demonstrates the architectural style typical of that era.
The château was built between 1589 and 1594 by Christoph Abraham von Retschan and replaced an earlier fortress that stood on an island in the pond. This new construction marked a shift from medieval to Renaissance architecture in the region.
The ground floor displays coats of arms, documents, and furniture that reflect different periods of the property's use and ownership.
The outdoor areas are freely accessible year-round, while guided tours of the ground floor require advance arrangements. The park is best explored during warmer months when the vegetation is at its fullest.
A 36-meter-long history tent in the park displays the castle's timeline within the context of world history. This installation connects local events to broader global developments and offers visitors a different perspective on the past.
