Schloss Lanegg

Schloss Lanegg is a four-story residential tower with a square footprint, to which a rounded staircase tower was added in the 16th century. This combination of elements creates a distinctive outline that stands out in the local landscape.

The building was constructed as a residential and defensive structure and was first documented in 1568. The Faber von Lanegg family owned it for over two centuries and shaped the castle until the early 19th century.

The entrance displays painted coats of arms showing the Imperial Eagle and the Tyrol Eagle, while the upper floors have Gothic windows that reflect past artistic ambitions.

The castle stands north of Mehrn in the Zimmermoos district and is accessible via Faberstrasse. Visitors should be prepared for a rural setting with potentially limited parking options nearby.

A 16th-century statue of Madonna with Child adorns the north facade, mounted on an ornately crafted bracket at the second floor level. This religious sculpture is a rare example of sacred art that survived on residential buildings from that era.
