Initially established with a Marian image station in early 1600s, the church underwent major expansions between 1670 and 1673 to accommodate increasing pilgrim numbers.
The church houses precious artwork, including altar pieces by Antonio Beduzzi and ceiling frescoes created by Wolfgang Köberl between 1950 and 1960.
The church maintains regular mass schedules, with access through Maria-Bühel-Street and connections to the Bavarian town of Laufen via Europasteg bridge.
