Ulrichsberg gathering, Far-right veterans' association in Klagenfurt, Austria

The Ulrichsberg gathering is an annual reunion held on a mountain near Klagenfurt, Austria, where commemorative ceremonies take place. The site features 50 memorial plaques honoring military units and a large cross erected in 1958 standing near a 15th-century church.

The Ulrichsberggemeinschaft was founded on 1 June 1953 in Klagenfurt, with Blasius Scheucher, a former Gebirgsjäger, among its founders. Since 1958 a memorial ceremony has been held each October on the small meadow beside the cross, for the dead of both world wars and of the Carinthian defence. In 2009 the army ended logistical support and the meeting was cancelled; in 2010 it moved to the Herzogstuhl, in 2011 to the Klagenfurt concert hall, and in 2012 it returned to the Ulrichsberg with about 300 participants.

Since 1958 the gathering has been held each October on the small meadow beside the cross, commemorating the dead of both world wars and the Carinthian defence campaign. Speeches by Jörg Haider in the 1990s shaped its public image, and the 2017 speech by Landtag deputy Martin Rutter after the official ceremony mixed the historic defence campaign with calls against the EU and the media. Antifascist groups have held counter-rallies and information points at the same time.

Attendance has fallen sharply: about 400 at the Herzogstuhl in 2010, about 100 at the Klagenfurt Konzerthaus in 2011, about 300 on the mountain in 2012.

In 2012 organisers denied beforehand that Herbert Belschan von Mildenburg, a former Hitler Youth and Waffen-SS member, would speak, yet he gave one of the speeches at the Ulrichsberg. About 300 people came instead of the expected 1,000.
