Steinseehütte, Mountain hut at 2061 meters in Lechtal Alps, Tyrol, Austria.
Steinseehütte is a mountain hut at 2061 meters (6761 feet) in the Lechtal Alps of Tyrol, Austria, positioned below the peaks Dremelspitze and Steinkarspitze. It overlooks Lake Steinsee and commands views across to the Parzinn mountain group.
The Austrian Alpine Association of Landeck founded this mountain hut in 1924 to provide shelter for mountaineers exploring the Lechtal Alps region. Since its establishment, it has remained an essential stopping point for expeditions in the area.
The refuge maintains the alpine shelter tradition by serving as a gathering place where hikers connect over shared meals and conversations. The communal spaces embody how mountain huts form the social heart of Alpine travel.
The hut operates from mid-June to late September and provides overnight accommodation in shared dormitory rooms with 24 beds or on mattresses with about 60 spaces available. Visitors should prepare for alpine conditions and understand that access requires hiking through mountain passes.
Multiple approach routes lead to the hut from Gramais village, including paths crossing the Bockkarscharte and Kogelseescharte mountain passes. This variety of access options makes it a central hub for planning different mountain routes in the region.
