Schloss Rosenegg, Steyr, Protected castle in Garsten, Austria
The two-story Rosenegg Castle features round towers positioned on its rear side to minimize the risk of landslides in the valley.
Initially mentioned in 1383 as a farmstead called Baumannsgütl in der Weng, Andreas von der Pruckhen constructed the castle between 1572 and 1576.
The castle owners, the von Ronay family, support young artists by organizing musical performances, including piano evenings illuminated by candlelight.
Located at Roseneggstrasse 8 in Garsten, visitors can view the castle exterior and access the site through available public transportation options.
The castle underwent significant renovations after 1683 under Abbot Anselm Angerer, who installed an unusually large chapel within the structure.
