Kabarett Niedermair is a small theater in the Piaristenviertel district designed for up to 100 people, focusing on comedy combined with theatrical elements. The space brings performers and spectators into close contact.

Nadja Niedermair founded the Kabarett Niedermair in 1983 in Vienna's 8th district and led it until 1991; its semi-annual "Sprungbrett" showcase gave Josef Hader, Thomas Maurer, Leo Lukas and the group Schlabarett their first stage appearances. The cabaret artist I Stangl directed it from 1991 to 2001, adding children's theatre, then Doris Ringseis of the Wiener Kulisse led it until 2003. Andreas Fuderer has directed it since 2004 and co-founded the 400-seat Stadtsaal in 2011; the house marked its 40th anniversary in 2023 with a four-day festival.

The half-yearly "Sprungbrett" format for newcomers served as the launch pad for Josef Hader, Thomas Maurer, Leo Lukas, Mike Supancic and the group "Schlabarett" with Alfred Dorfer, Peter Wustinger and Andrea Händler. Under I Stangl, who led the house from 1991 to 2001, quality children's theatre was added alongside the cabaret evenings. In 2023 the house marked its 40th anniversary with a four-day festival, each evening devoted to one decade, and ORF's Österreich 1 honoured it with four episodes of Contra.

The venue has wheelchair spaces in the front row and is easily reached by public transport, including the U2 subway line. Visitors should note that programming varies by season.
