Ledererturm Wels, Medieval watchtower in Wels, Austria
The Ledererturm stands 38 meters tall with four square floors, featuring a pointed roof and an archway that leads to the Stadtplatz.
The tower originated in the 13th century as part of the city fortifications and underwent reconstruction between 1616 and 1619 after damage from Passauer troops.
The name Ledererturm reflects its location in the former leather craftsmen district, where numerous workshops produced leather goods during medieval times.
The exterior of the tower is accessible for viewing throughout the year, with parking facilities for 40 vehicles located in close proximity.
This structure remains the sole surviving tower from the original four medieval watchtowers that once protected the city of Wels.
