The Botanical Garden spans 1.2 hectares in a former quarry, featuring specialized sections for alpine species, wetland plants, and medicinal herbs.
Established in 1862, the Botanical Garden has developed from a simple plant collection into a research center managed by the Carinthian State Museum.
The garden functions as an educational hub where students and researchers study native Austrian flora, particularly the Carinthian Wulfenia species.
Visitors can access the garden free of charge from Monday to Friday between October and April, with extended hours and daily openings from May to September.
Located in an old quarry at the base of Kreuzberg, the garden's terrain creates distinct microclimates supporting diverse plant communities.
