Bremstein is a 1,868-metre summit on the northern side of the main Seckauer Tauern ridge, in the municipality of Mautern near the border with Sankt Marein-Feistritz. A marked trail from the Untere Bodenhütte (1,385 m) climbs through the Fradental valley and over the southwest ridge to the top in about one to one and a half hours.

The Bremstein lies in the Seckauer Tauern, a range whose name recalls the Augustinian monastery of Seckau founded in the 12th century. The two documented ascents start at the Untere Bodenhütte (1,385 m) via the Fradental and at Mautern via the Antonikreuz (1,753 m), both reaching the summit by ridge paths.

Two marked routes lead to the summit: from the Untere Bodenhütte (1,385 m) through the Fradental valley and over the southwest ridge in about 1 to 1.5 hours, and from Mautern southward past the Antonikreuz (1,753 m) along the southeast ridge. The Antonikreuz is a wayside cross that walkers pass on the longer Mautern route.
