Schloss Seebarn, Renaissance castle in Grafenwörth, Austria

Schloss Seebarn is a Renaissance building from the mid-16th century with a medieval core and a defensive tower, located in Seebarn am Wagram in the market town of Grafenwörth, Lower Austria. It is a protected monument and remains in private ownership.

The site is first documented in 1309, when it belonged to the Schenken von Seebarn. Around 1488 it passed to Hans Zeller, around 1590 it was held by the Straub zu Thürnthal family, and in 1592 by the Freiherren von Auersperg. In 1664 the Counts of Verdenberg held Oberseebarn; from 1688 the Counts Enckevort owned the castle and joined it to the Grafenegg estate, which later passed to the Metternich-Sandor princes.

The castle is in private hands, so its noble history is read from the outside: the name Seebarn comes from the Schenken von Seebarn, recorded as owners from 1309. From 1688 the Counts Enckevort held it and joined it to the Grafenegg estate, which later passed to the Metternich-Sandor princes.

The castle is located at Schlossgasse 134 in Seebarn am Wagram and remains private property. Visits require advance permission from the owners.
