The three-story castle features a rectangular layout with columned arcades surrounding a courtyard and contains a square stair tower with a pyramid roof.
Count Ekberg II von Formbach-Pitten constructed the original fortress in 1130, which was later destroyed by Turkish forces and rebuilt in 1532.
The castle chapel displays architectural richness through its two-story design and contains a stucco marble altar representing Renaissance craftsmanship.
Located at Erdwegen 1-4, the castle now operates as an agricultural and forestry school, providing education for students in Eastern Styria.
The stone Auersperg coat of arms remains visible at the main portal, marking the period when the Counts of Auersperg owned the property from 1670 to 1802.
