Meißner Haus, Schutzhütte des Deutschen Alpenvereins
Welcome to the Meißner Haus, an Alpine club hut located at an altitude of 1707 meters above sea level in the Tuxer Alps in the Austrian state of Tyrol. This hut is a protected monument and belongs to the Ebersberg-Grafing section of the German Alpine Club. The Meißner Haus was built in 1926 by the Meißen section of the German and Austrian Alpine Club near the Patscherkofel mountain. After World War II, the hut was managed by the Innsbruck section of the Austrian Alpine Club. In 1968, the Bavarian DAV-Sektion Ebersberg-Grafing took over the hut and acquired it in 1973. To reach the Meißner Haus, there are three possible routes: 1. From the Mühltal parking lot, follow the Viggarbach stream for about two hours. 2. From the Oberellbögen parking lot, follow a signposted forest road for about two and a half hours. 3. From Igls, take the Patscherkofel cable car to the Patscherkofel mountain station, then follow the Boscheben trail and a path for about one and a half hours. The Meißner Haus serves as a base camp for climbing several peaks such as the Kreuzspitze, Glungezer, Morgenkogel, Viggarspitze, and Patscherkofel. Transitions to the Glungezerhütte, Lizumer Hütte, and Peeralm are also possible. The Meißner Haus offers accommodation for up to 70 people in dormitory-style rooms with shared bathrooms. The hut has a cozy dining room where you can enjoy traditional Austrian cuisine and drinks while admiring the stunning views of the surrounding mountains. During the summer months, the Meißner Haus is an ideal starting point for hiking, mountaineering, and climbing. In winter, the hut is a popular destination for ski touring and snowshoeing. Please note that the Meißner Haus is only open from mid-June to mid-October and from late December to early April. Reservations are recommended, especially during peak season. We hope you enjoy your stay at the Meißner Haus and have a memorable Alpine experience in the Tuxer Alps!
