Villa Sinnenreich, Experience museum in Rohrbach-Berg, Austria
Villa Sinnenreich is an experience museum in a protected historic building that houses about 50 interactive exhibits across 400 square meters. The installations explore human perception through optical phenomena and sensory experiments.
The building was converted into a museum in 2002 and began welcoming visitors in 2004. This transformation gave the protected historic structure a new purpose while preserving its original character.
The installations were created by professors and artists from the University of Arts in Linz, inviting visitors to question how their senses interpret what they see. Many works play with visual tricks and encourage hands-on exploration.
The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Sundays from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with arrangements available for group visits. Plan time to experience the interactive installations and explore the surrounding area.
A hiking loop of about 6 kilometers around the villa connects visitors with 29 additional interactive stations that blend natural elements with perception experiments. These stations extend the experience beyond the museum building itself.
