Villa Hold

Villa Hold is a four-story protected heritage building in Feldbach featuring neo-Gothic architecture with refined stone details on its facades. The structure stands at about 34 meters tall and catches the eye with its tall windows and elaborate entrance areas.

The building was constructed between 1890 and 1892 based on designs by architect August Gunolt for brewery owner Josefine Hold. After its completion, it served for many years as a savings bank before its purpose changed.

The building hosts a music school that offers lessons to young people from the area. This institution shapes the cultural life of Feldbach and makes the villa a center for artistic education.

The building is easy to spot from the outside and sits within walking distance of the parish church in central Feldbach. Visitors can admire the architecture and details from the street, though they should check ahead to see if interior areas are open for viewing.

When built, the villa briefly surpassed the tower of the nearby parish church and was one of the tallest structures in the city at that time. The initials J.H. remain visible today in a rosette above the entrance, honoring the original owner.
