Pfarrkirche Virgen

Pfarrkirche Virgen is a Gothic church in the village center with a distinct choir section and steep roof. The interior is shaped by religious artworks and altars that structure and decorate the main hall.

The parish was founded during the Carolingian period, with the Gothic church itself built and consecrated in 1516. A major expansion followed in 1784 that brought the building to its present form.

The church displays religious artworks throughout its interior that reflect the faith and artistic traditions of the community. These paintings and decorative elements show how local artists contributed to making the space feel spiritually meaningful.

The church sits in the village center and is easily reached on foot. As an active community hub, access may be limited at certain times, so visiting during good daylight works best.

The high altar was crafted in 1844 by Josef Stauder and displays theological virtues alongside figures of Saints Peter and Paul. An older altarpiece from the 1700s sits nearby, showing artistic taste from different periods.
