Schloss Hornegg, Medieval castle in Preding, Austria.

The castle features a three-story four-wing construction with courtyard arcades and an octagonal tower topped by a dome with lantern.

The first documentation of Schloss Hornegg dates to 1230 when the Hornegger family established their residence, followed by the Saurau family from 1373 to 1603.

Dr. Carl Schönfeldt, who used the name Rudolf Hornegg, became a recognized speaker for the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation while residing at the castle.

The castle grounds contain fish ponds that provide financial support for the estate maintenance, replacing former agricultural activities.

French military forces inflicted substantial damage to the structure in 1809, leading to major renovations that altered its original medieval character.
