Schloss Drösiedl, Renaissance castle in Ludweis-Aigen, Austria.

Schloss Drösiedl is a three-story castle in Ludweis-Aigen with a square layout and Renaissance arcades framing its inner courtyard. The structure sits on elevated terrain and is surrounded by deep ditches filled with stone rubble.

The castle was originally owned by Nikolaus der Dreyzidler in 1283 before passing to the Hofkirchen family in 1427. The Hofkirchen family retained ownership until 1612 and undertook extensive renovations during their tenure.

The castle chapel features a barrel vaulted ceiling with colorful keystones and displays a large oval painting showing Saint Benedict and Saint Scholastica framed by acanthus ornaments.

The castle is privately owned and closed to visitors, though you can view the exterior and surrounding grounds to appreciate the Renaissance architecture. Observing from outside gives you a sense of the building's structure and its relationship to the landscape.

The arcade courtyard displays pure Renaissance style in its original form, preserving authentic elements from the construction period. The detailed craftsmanship of the arcades reveals how Renaissance design was executed in this Austrian region.
