Ehem. Berger-Kaserne, Objekt 1, Hauptgebäude, Prandtauer Hof

The Prandtauer Hof is a former military building with classical features including stone columns, arches, and high ceilings spanning multiple floors. The spaces blend historical details with modern residential standards within a protected complex.

Construction took place between 1853 and 1856 under master builder Jakob Prandtauer's design and served as cavalry barracks for over 150 years. A comprehensive conversion to residential use occurred in 2006 while preserving the protected structure.

The name honors the master builder whose family shaped the region for generations. Today residents gather in the courtyards, which serve as a green retreat in the heart of the town.

The complex is an active residential community with over 100 apartments of various sizes equipped with wooden floors and custom kitchens. Access is via the main street in central Neusiedl am See.

The former parade ground has been transformed into cultivated gardens with small planting beds beneath the arcades, creating an open core for daily life. This conversion shows how military spaces can become green community areas.
