The aviation building features an arched roof construction made of wooden framework trusses, spanning a vault 30 meters wide and 7 meters high.
Between 1941 and 1942, the National Socialist Flying Corps constructed this hangar to support glider operations during World War II in Vorarlberg.
The structure served as a glider school where young pilots completed their training requirements to obtain Class I aviation licenses through multiple certification stages.
Located 2 kilometers northwest of Höchst center, the former aviation facility now functions as a cattle barn and storage building since 1973.
On June 9, 1944, a four-engine B-24 bomber of the United States Army Air Forces made an emergency landing at this site due to anti-aircraft fire.
