Lourdes Kapelle, Krumbach, Modern Catholic chapel in Krumbach, Austria.
Lourdes Kapelle is a modern chapel built with larch wood shingles and featuring a steep pitched roof with a rectangular footprint. The structure stands roughly 9.5 meters tall and contains simple wooden benches seating around two dozen worshippers.
The original chapel dated from 1880 but was replaced with new construction that opened in July 2016 after more than a century of use. The local community played an active role in planning and building this replacement structure.
The chapel blends local wood-building traditions with modern worship and serves as a quiet gathering place for the community. Its simple interior reflects the spiritual practices valued in the mountain region.
The chapel sits roughly one and a half kilometers north of Krumbach town center at 710 meters elevation. Parking is available nearby and the location is easily reached on foot, especially for hikers exploring the surrounding area.
The wooden facade naturally changes color depending on sun exposure and weather conditions. The southern side develops dark tones while the northern side takes on silvery grey hues.
