The Science Tower Graz reaches 60 meters in height with 13 floors and features transparent energy glasses on its double-skinned truncated cone facade.
The Science Tower opened in September 2017 as part of an urban development project on the former industrial grounds of the Waagner Biro factory.
The building functions as a scientific cluster, housing research organizations including Joanneum Research, Graz University of Technology, and the European Space Agency branch.
The tower contains 2,500 square meters of office space and 215 square meters of seminar rooms, with smart urban gardening facilities on the top floor.
The structure incorporates Grätzel cells in its facade, converting sunlight into electricity without silicon, while twelve 200-meter deep boreholes provide geothermal energy.
