Oostakker Basilica, Gothic Revival church building in Oostakker, Belgium
The Basilica features pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and flying buttresses that allow natural light to flow through the central nave and side aisles.
Construction of the church began in 1877 after Marquise of Courtebourne-de Nédonchel established a Lourdes grotto in her château gardens at Slotendries in 1873.
The Roman Catholic basilica serves as a primary center for Marian pilgrimage in Flanders, attracting visitors from Ghent and surrounding regions.
The church maintains regular worship services and provides space for religious gatherings, with designated areas for prayer and contemplation throughout the building.
