Staryja Darohi is the administrative center of its district in Minsk Region, located approximately 107 kilometers east of the capital. It serves as the seat of district government and coordinates local affairs for several rural communities in the surrounding area.
The town developed as an administrative center during the Soviet period and became an important local governance hub. It played a role in the reorganization of district structures across the Minsk Region.
The administrative district incorporates seven rural councils, including Drazhnovsky, Novodorozhsky, Pasek, Polozewiczski, Starodorozhsky, Shchitkovichi, and Yazylsky, each maintaining local traditions.

After World War II, the Red House displaced persons camp near Staryya Darohi provided temporary shelter for 1,400 individuals, documented in Primo Levi's book.
