Babruysk

Babruysk is a city in Mahilyow Region in Belarus, positioned along the Berezina River in the eastern part of the country. The urban layout combines Soviet-era apartment blocks with industrial zones and some older structures near the riverbanks.

The settlement gained city rights in the 16th century and developed as a trading center on the Berezina. A large fortress was built during the Napoleonic Wars and shaped the military importance of this location into the 20th century.

The district preserves traditional Belarusian rural customs through local festivals, folk music performances, and craft exhibitions that highlight regional heritage.

The city is accessible via road connections from Minsk to the west and Homel to the south. Regional bus lines and a railway station provide links to other locations in Belarus.

Remains of the old fortress walls and gates are visible at several points across the urban area. These elements now sit among modern buildings and green spaces.
