Kosava Castle, Gothic Revival palace in Kosava, Belarus
Kosava Castle is a Gothic Revival palace on a family estate in Kosava, Belarus, built with a central two-story structure, two wings, and four tall towers. The building contains over one hundred separate rooms distributed throughout its layout.
Construction began in 1838 under architect Franciszek Jaszczold when Wandalin Puslowski commissioned the building on his family estate. The project represented the architectural ambitions of landowners during that period in the region.
The palace contained specialized chambers for different activities, each decorated and designed for its purpose—the White Chamber for dancing, the Black Chamber for card games, and the Pink Chamber for musical performances. This arrangement reflects how the residents organized their social and leisure activities.
The structure has been undergoing restoration since 2008 and is being transformed into a cultural center with planned museum and restaurant spaces. Visitors should check current conditions before arriving, as restoration work continues at the site.
Each room in the building was positioned to receive direct sunlight at particular times throughout the day. This was an intentional design choice that reflected consideration for the comfort and well-being of those living there.
