Молодечненский замок

Maladziečna Castle is a medieval fortification standing on the right bank of the Usha River, featuring a rectangular layout with prominent earthen ramparts. The defensive structure shows evidence of its origins as a stronghold protecting the surrounding region during medieval times.

The fortress first appears in written records in 1388 when an important letter was signed within its walls. This document marks the earliest known reference to the settlement and established its role in regional politics.

A stone chapel with frescoes once stood at the center of the fortification, serving as the spiritual heart of the settlement during the medieval period. The decorated walls reflected the artistic traditions of the time and the religious importance of this defensive site.

The site is easily accessible by public transportation from Minsk, situated in the northern section of the district. Visitors should come prepared for outdoor walking as the remains are spread across an open area with minimal shelter.

The castle underwent a remarkable transformation in the 17th century when its original corner towers were replaced with Dutch-style defensive structures. This architectural change reflects shifting military engineering practices of the period.
