Kouchibouguac National Park, National park along Northumberland Strait in New Brunswick, Canada.
The park spans 238 square kilometers, containing barrier islands, sand dunes, lagoons, salt marshes, and forests along the Maritime Plain region.
Parks Canada established the protected area in 1979, requiring the relocation of 215 families from seven communities in the surrounding region.
The Mi'kmaq people named the area Kouchibouguac, which translates to river of the long tides in their traditional language.
Visitors can participate in swimming, cycling, hiking, and seal watching activities throughout the extensive network of marked trails.
The park holds designation as a Dark-sky preserve since 2009, limiting light pollution to protect nocturnal habitats and astronomical observation.
