L'Assomption, City and administrative division in Quebec, Canada

L'Assomption sits within a curved section of the L'Assomption River, approximately 50 kilometers northeast of Montreal in southwestern Quebec.

The L'Assomption Seignory, granted to Pierre Legardeur de Repentigny in 1647, marked the beginning of European settlement in this region of Quebec.

The Collège de l'Assomption, established in 1832, educated notable figures including Sir Wilfrid Laurier, who became Canada's seventh prime minister.

The city maintains direct transportation connections to Montreal through regional highways and offers various public services for its 23,442 residents.

The original courthouse, now known as Oasis du Vieux Palais de Justice, represents the earliest circuit courthouse structure in Quebec province.
