Museum of Design

The Museum of Design features three locations across Zurich: Ausstellungsstrasse, Toni-Areal, and Pavillon Le Corbusier, displaying industrial design, visual communication, and architecture collections.

Founded in 1878 as the Museum of Arts and Crafts, the institution moved to its current building in 1933, designed by architects Adolf Steger and Karl Egender.

The museum maintains four collections totaling over 375,000 items, including international posters, Swiss design products, graphic works, and applied art from the 19th century.

Visitors can explore the museum Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with extended hours until 8:00 PM on Wednesdays.

The Poster Collection contains 330,000 pieces documenting international poster history from the mid-19th century, with particular focus on Switzerland, Europe, Japan, and United States.
