Territorial Abbey of Maria Einsiedeln, Benedictine abbey in Einsiedeln, Switzerland

The central church features a white and gold baroque facade with twin towers, marble columns, and detailed religious statues throughout the structure.

Founded in 934 by Eberhard of Strasbourg following the death of Saint Meinrad, who established a hermitage on the site in 828.

The monastery library contains 230,000 volumes, including medieval manuscripts and early printed books documenting centuries of European intellectual development.

Visitors can join guided tours of the abbey Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with modified hours on Sundays and religious holidays.

The abbey maintains its own horse breeding tradition since medieval times, with stables called Cavalli della Madonna open for public viewing.
