The red stone building features three aisles, a transept, and five choir windows along with a large rose window in its Neo-Gothic architecture.
Architect Guillaume Ritter designed this church, which was consecrated in 1906 and elevated to basilica status by Pope Benedict XVI in 2007.
The vaulted ceiling displays 10,000 painted stars representing the night sky, while 14 large paintings illustrate the Stations of the Cross.
Three bells named Maria-Josepha, Faith, and Charity ring from the church tower, marking religious ceremonies and events for 62,000 Catholics.
The artificial stone blocks used in construction were manufactured on site and colored to match the appearance of Alsace sandstone.
