Yungang Grottoes, Buddhist caves in China
The Yungang Grottoes are ancient Chinese Buddhist temple grottoes near the city of Datong in the province of Shanxi.
They were mainly built from 460-525 during the Northern Wei dynasty.
The site is considered one of the most outstanding examples of Buddhist cave art in China.
It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site, attracting thousands of tourists every year.
The grottoes house over 51,000 Buddha statues and statuettes.
