Linfen

Linfen extends across 20,275 square kilometers along the Fen River valley, containing seventeen administrative divisions including one district, two cities, and fourteen counties.

The area served as the capital city for legendary emperor Yao during the 24th century BCE and later became known as Pingyang during the Spring and Autumn period.

The Yao Temple, constructed 1,700 years ago, stands as a memorial to three Chinese emperors and contains artifacts from different historical periods.

The city connects to major transportation routes with rail services and highways linking to provincial capital Taiyuan, located 220 kilometers to the north.

The Hukou Waterfall, the largest yellow-colored waterfall in China, drops 20 meters through a narrow gorge creating a thunderous spectacle visible from Linfen territory.
