Xiluodu Dam, Hydropower station in China
The Xiluodu Dam is a large hydroelectric dam on the Jinsha River, a tributary of the Yangtze River in China.
The construction of the dam began in 2005 and was completed in 2014.
The dam's reservoir has submerged a significant area, displacing many local communities and altering the region's landscape.
It is the third largest power station in the world in terms of installed capacity.
The dam also serves as a flood control and sediment retention facility.
