Temple of Heaven, Temple in Beijing, China
The Temple of Heaven is an imperial complex of religious buildings situated in the southeastern part of central Beijing.
Constructed from 1406 to 1420 during the reign of the Yongle Emperor, it was extended and renovated during the reigns of the Jiajing Emperor and the Qianlong Emperor.
The temple complex was visited by the Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for good harvest.
Today, it is a bustling place where locals partake in traditional activities such as Tai Chi, dancing, singing, and playing chess.
It's the largest building complex in the world for rituals to pay homage to heaven.
