Cuandixia, Ming dynasty mountain village in Mentougou District, Beijing, China.

The village contains 500 courtyard houses constructed with natural stones and wood, featuring steep staircases and stone-paved pathways throughout the settlement.

Founded in the Ming Dynasty by settlers from Shanxi Province, Cuandixia developed into a trading post for coal, fur, and grain during the Qing Dynasty.

Every resident in the village shares the Han family name, maintaining traditions and practices passed down through generations in their ancestral courtyards.

Visitors can reach the village by taking subway line 1 to Pingguoyuan Station, then bus 892 to Zhaitang Station, followed by a short taxi ride.

The Chinese character for Cuan in the village name represents a cooking stove and remains one of the rare characters not changed during the 1958 simplification.
