Chinese pyramids, Pyramids in China
The Chinese pyramids are ancient mausoleums and burial mounds built to house the remains of several early emperors of China.
The existence of these pyramids remained largely unknown until the 1940s when they were rediscovered by a U.S. pilot flying over the area.
These pyramids reflect the ancient Chinese belief in life after death and the importance of preserving the body for the afterlife.
Most of the pyramids are located near the city of Xi'an, in Shaanxi province.
Unlike Egyptian pyramids, Chinese pyramids are mostly made of clay and soil.
