Sidu River Bridge, Highest bridge in Hubei, China
The Sidu River Bridge is a 1,222 m-long suspension bridge crossing the valley of the Sidu River.
Completed in 2009, it was the world's highest bridge from 2009 to 2016.
The bridge is a symbol of China's rapid modernization and infrastructure development.
It significantly reduces travel time across the mountainous terrain of western Hubei.
Its construction involved shooting the pilot cable across the valley with a rocket.
