Tanzhe Temple, Buddhist temple in Mentougou District, Beijing, China
The temple complex spreads across 6.8 hectares in the Western Hills, featuring 900 rooms and 638 halls with Ming and Qing dynasty architecture.
Founded in 307 during the Jin Dynasty, the temple predates Beijing city and received visits from four emperors during the Qing Dynasty period.
The Mahavira Hall measures 24 meters long and 33 meters wide, serving as the central location for Buddhist ceremonies and religious practices.
Visitors can reach the temple by taking subway line 1 to Pingguoyuan Station and transferring to bus 931 for the final destination.
Two ancient ginkgo trees grow in the courtyard behind Mahavira Hall, with the eastern tree reaching 30 meters in height and 4 meters in diameter.
