Iron Pagoda, Buddhist Pagoda in China
The Iron Pagoda is a 57-meter tall octagonal base tower located in Kaifeng, Henan province, China.
Built in 1049 during the Song Dynasty, the Iron Pagoda has withstood numerous earthquakes and other natural disasters.
Despite its name, the Iron Pagoda is not made of iron but glazed bricks which give it a metallic appearance.
The pagoda is open to the public and can be climbed for a panoramic view of Kaifeng.
The Iron Pagoda is considered one of the Four Treasures of Hebei.
