Lanzhou Fu Chenghuang Miao

Welcome to Lanzhou, a city located in the Gansu province of China. One of the must-visit places in Lanzhou is the Chenghuang Temple, which is located on the middle section of Zhangye Road in the Chengguan District. This temple was listed as one of the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units in 2013 and has now been converted into the first workers' club in Lanzhou. The Chenghuang God worshipped in Lanzhou and surrounding areas such as Tianshui and Qingcheng is Ji Xin, who was a general under Liu Bang. The Chenghuang Temple in Lanzhou was built no later than the Song Dynasty and underwent multiple renovations and expansions during the Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties. In the fifth year of the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty (1740), the capital of Gansu Province was moved from Lintao to Lanzhou, and the temple was renamed "Fucheng Chenghuang Temple". After a major renovation in the seventeenth year of the Daoguang period (1837), the current layout was formed. The Chenghuang Temple in Lanzhou has a symmetrical layout along the central axis, with five main buildings arranged from south to north: the archway, the theater building, the Xiangdian Hall, the main hall, and the sleeping hall. The temple gate archway was originally the "Zhenlie Yiqian" archway in front of the tomb of Yan Fei in the Jieyuan Garden of the Su Prince's Mansion. It was relocated here in 1956. The theater building was destroyed by fire in 1984 and rebuilt in 2003. The Xiangdian Hall has a single-eave gable roof with two gold-lettered plaques from the Qing Dynasty on the lintel, which read "Lingying Jincheng" and "Anshi Zhaozhang". The main hall has a double-eave gable roof. Visitors to the Chenghuang Temple in Lanzhou can not only appreciate the ancient architecture and cultural relics but also experience the local customs and traditions. It is a great place to learn about the history and culture of Lanzhou and Gansu Province.
